The Chiniak road is about 40 miles long and the first 31 miles are now paved (the section on the left is paved today). This scenic drive takes around an hour. The beauty of the land is almost completely unspoiled.

The road to the right leads to Pasagshak and to the left, Chiniak. Pasagshak has a river with a strong run of red salmon. The road continues to the Kodiak Launch Complex and Burton's Ranch. A herd of buffalo can be found here along with several secluded beaches.

Kalsin pond attracts both fishermen and birds. One side of the pond is located on the road system.
The Thumbs Up small boat harbor protects the small fleet of skiffs. Although there isn't a boat ramp, boat up to about 20 ft can be launched. The harbor is less than a quarter mile from 9th Wave.
This small post office is run by Jim Van Atta and is one of the first signs of Chiniak. The bed and breakfast is located on the hill above it. The post office is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 6 pm and on Saturday from 12 to 2 pm. Stamps and postcards may be bought here.
Roslyn beach is a nice recreation area. A good fishing river runs at the far side (4 wheel drive accessible). One entrance is located right after the Kodiak Island Winery. It is located about 2 miles for 9th Wave.
The very end of the road is a site of WWII bunkers and an old airstrip. A lagoon (in the picture) and nice beaches are also an attraction to adventurous travelers.
